Context
We designed the cover of a revision book for Romania’s teacher exams in music education (titularizare, definitivat and teaching grades I and II). The book has three authors, was published in 2025 by Media Musica in Cluj-Napoca and is written for teachers preparing for these exams.
The title is long, because it names every exam the book covers. The rest of the cover had to show at a glance that this is a book about music.
What the cover had to say
- Music, recognised at once: it shows before you read the title.
- The long title, easy to read, with its hierarchy: the revision notes, the exams, the subject.
- The authors’ names and the publisher’s logo in their place, without competing with the title.
- The full cover, ready for print: front, spine and back.
What we built
The cover is a collage of small squares with instruments, headphones, notes and speakers, in pink, magenta and purple. The collage fills the top and the bottom of the cover, and the title sits in the white band in the middle, where it reads easily.
The subject, music education, stands on its own under the title, between dashes, because the subject is what a teacher looks for first. On the back cover, the blurb sits above the collage and the ISBN at the foot.
